One theme, five books: build a puzzle book series

You made one good book on a theme. Do not stop there. The graphics, the word list and the look are already done. With a few changes, one theme becomes five books, each for a different reader. Here is how.

Start with the book you have. Open Book settings and go to Save as template. A book template carries everything: the size, the age group, which puzzles go in, how many share a page, the background and the look. Give it a name. The guided new project now offers it on its first step.

Book two: the same zoo for ages three to five. Start from your template, change the age group, and change the mix. Small children cannot read yet, so take out the word puzzles and add picture puzzles: count and colour, join the dots, mazes and find the shadow. Puzzles also follow the age group, so grids and mazes come out smaller and easier. Generate it, walk through the pages, and you have your second book.

Book three: ages nine to twelve. Older children want harder puzzles. Add crosswords, crack the code, cryptograms and sudoku. Your zoo word list is already in the library, with clues, so you use it again without paying for AI a second time. If you want harder words for this age, ask the AI for a new list with the age group set to nine to twelve, and keep both lists side by side.

Book four: a colour edition. Tick Print this book in colour. Graphics that come with a colour version now print in colour, and puzzles the child colours in stay as line art. Colour printing costs more on KDP, so this one suits a premium or gift edition at a higher price. Remember to choose a colour interior on KDP as well, so the print options match the PDF.

Book five: a travel size. Choose six by nine inches and fewer pages, for a book that fits in a bag. Or make the same book in another language. Choose the language, and let the AI write a word list in it. Picture puzzles need no translation at all, so a book with mostly pictures is quick to bring to a new market.

On KDP you can link books as a series, so buyers see the other books on your book page. Keep the titles consistent: the same name, then the age or the edition. Use the same author name on every book, and reuse your best keywords with small changes for each age group. Give the covers the same style, so they look like a family. A parent who liked one book can then find the next one for a younger brother or an older sister. Publish them one after another, and each new book points buyers back to the ones before.
