My Puzzle Book Generator in 7 minutes: from a theme to a KDP-ready puzzle book

The video for this guide is coming soon

Everything it shows is written out below.

This is a complete, print-ready activity book. Sixty pages, mazes, word searches, colour by number, spot the difference, with the solutions in the back. It took one afternoon, and most of that was choosing pictures. Let me show you the whole thing, from an empty screen to the file you upload to KDP.

My Puzzle Book Generator is a desktop app for Windows and Mac. You give it a theme, it builds the book, and you adjust what you like in the editor. Your pictures, words and templates live in libraries you fill once and reuse in every book. And the marketplace sells ready-made sets if you don't want to draw anything yourself.

The guided project asks four sets of questions. First, the book itself. A title. The theme, chosen from every theme your library has pictures for. A template, which sets the heading style, backgrounds and decorations of every page. The trim size: all three KDP sizes are here. The age group tunes the puzzles to your readers. Then colour or black and white. Leave it off and the pictures print as line drawings, the cheap way to print. Turn it on and pictures that come in colour print in colour. One tick puts a theme background behind every puzzle. Pick a heading font, and on to the puzzles.

Step two: which puzzles, and how many. Type the number of pages and click Fill puzzles. The app spreads them over more than twenty puzzle types, solutions included. Don't want one? Untick it. Small puzzles like sudoku can share a page. Under every picture puzzle you see which artwork it will use, so there are no surprises. Add a This book belongs to page at the front, and move on.

Step three gives the word puzzles their words. You can use a list you saved, or let the AI write one on your theme, with a clue for every word. That takes a few seconds and a few AI credits, and the list is saved for your next book. Every word search, crossword and code puzzle in this book now stays on theme.

Step four is a summary, and one click. The app generates every puzzle, places the pictures, lays out the pages and puts the solutions in the back. Here it is. Every puzzle is unique, every page already has its heading, background and decorations.

Nothing is fixed. Every page has a Content tab for the puzzle itself and a Text and layout tab for the heading, background and decorations. Make a maze harder, or reshuffle it into a new one. Change a word and the word search rebuilds. Drag decorations where you want them, resize them, swap the background. Add, duplicate or delete pages. Undo is always there, and the book saves itself as you work.

Where do the pictures come from? Your own, if you draw or buy them: the media library imports them in one go. Or the marketplace. More than a hundred themes, each with elements, backgrounds, colouring pages, dot to dots and more, drawn in one style so a book looks like one book. Pictures come in colour and as line art, so the same set works for a colour book and a black and white one. Buy a set once, and it appears in the app on every computer you use.

The last step is the one that matters. Click Export, and the app checks your book against KDP's interior rules: margins, the gutter for your page count, an even number of pages, the minimum length. If something is off, it tells you, often with a button that fixes it. When the bar is green, export. This is the file you upload to KDP, or send to any printer.

Three more things. The app updates itself: when there's a new version, it's one click on the start screen. Your account on the website keeps your licence, your purchases and your invoices in one place. And it runs the same on Windows and on Mac, so your library travels with you.

If you make content for puzzle book creators, I'd love to have you in the beta. You get the full app and the whole marketplace free, a one-year licence on the house, a ninety euro discount code for your audience, and forty percent commission on every licence you send our way. The details are in the email that brought you here. And if you came here on your own: download the app free at my puzzle book generator dot com, and make your first book this afternoon.
